How do I pluralize my last name correctly?

How do I pluralize my last name correctly?

It seems daunting, but I promise- it isn’t!
When pluralizing a last name for your signs, just add -s or -es—no apostrophes needed (those are only for showing possession).
  • Most names: Add -s → The Browns, The Garcias
  • Names ending in s, x, z, ch, sh: Add -es → The Joneses, The Hughes, The Baggses
  • Names ending in y: Add -s → The Murphys
Possession: To show ownership, add an apostrophe after the plural → The Smiths’ car, The Baggses’ house.

If you don’t like how your name looks pluralized (I own Baggses- I won’t judge), you can always say “The [Last Name] Family” (when warranted), instead!
