Let's Paint Plaid!

Let's Paint Plaid!

What you need:

  • 3 colours- Light, medium and dark
  • painters tape
  • your paint brush of choice
  • your backer (of course!)

Step 1: paint your backer your LIGHTEST colour. Let dry completely.

Step 2: Tape off the first set of lines as shown on the illustration below. I use a smaller piece of tape to ensure my lines are evenly spaced (as you can see in the demonstration photo). Ensure you press the edges of the tape well to prevent bleeding. Paint over the backer with your medium colour. Let dry completely.

Step 3: Tape off the next set of lines as shown (crossing your first set to create a checkered pattern). Ensure you press the edges of the tape well to prevent bleeding. Paint over the backer with your medium colour again. Let dry completely.

Step 4: Tape off the next set of lines as shown. This time, you will want to tape the lines containing your lightest colour in a crisscross fashion leaving only the medium colour exposed Ensure you press the edges of the tape well to prevent bleeding. paint over the backer with your Darkest colour again. Let dry completely before slowly peeling the tape to reveal the final results.
